Apart
from the deceased, two other persons sustained various degrees of
injuries in the explosion that occurred on Monday April 13, 2015, at the
shop located on 5th Avenue, D1 Close in the area.
But
for the timely intervention of fire service men from the Ojo Fire
Station, the damage could have escalated as their early arrival and
quick response doused the flame and prevented the fire from escalating.
The
Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, confirmed the
incident and said the deceased could not be less than 35 years old.
"The
incident happened around 3.35pm. They do welding jobs in the workshop.
The heat generated from the activities might have caused the explosion.
We
met a corpse on the ground, which policemen from the FESTAC division
later came for. Our men from the Ojo fire station responded with 10,000
litres of water.".
